VCAA Languages Assessments

The VCAA Language Assessments are designed to support teachers implementing the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Languages curriculum. These assessments may be used by schools to support their teaching of Languages (F–10 or 7–10 sequences).

The VCAA Languages Assessments are available at no cost to all Victorian schools, including Community Language Schools.

Submit a request with ACER's school support team for more information.

VCAA Language Assessments are currently available for the following languages:

  • Chinese (Second Language Learner)
  • Chinese (Background Language Learner)
  • French
  • German
  • Indonesian
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Modern Greek
  • Spanish

Developed with and hosted by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), the VCAA Language Assessments are a suite of online language assessments set out in a multiple-choice online format. The Language Assessments comprise listening and reading per target language, with increasing levels of difficulty and some common items between tests.

Available on demand, the Language Assessments will provide teachers with snapshots of students’ listening and reading skills, which teachers can use to better target individual students’ learning needs.
