Why are PAT Adaptive results missing from my reports?

Students must view all items (questions) in their test. Results may be excluded from online reporting in the ACER Data Explorer if students skip ahead and submit their test prematurely.

Monitor student progress during testing and encourage students to view and respond to each item in sequence. Students may return to earlier items to enter or change their responses.

If some students still require, you may allow a small amount of extra time, but note that inconsistency in the total time allowed for all students may affect the comparability of results. Use your professional judgement.

Retrieving missing results

Adaptive tests submitted prematurely will be flagged as Invalid, 'Reason: Insufficient items viewed’.

Results from Invalid tests are not reported in the ACER Data Explorer.

From the Students page, these test may be re-opened to allow students to complete them:

  1. Click the student's name to open their profile.
  2. Click Tests to view their test history. The affected test will be marked Invalid.
  3. Click the three dots at the right of the test to re-open the test.
  4. The student may log in and resume the test.
