Staff login details and email addresses

Passwords are used to authenticate and prevent unauthorised access to the ACER online assessment and reporting system.

Login details and email addresses

Every account user will have a unique username as well as a password that will give them access to the account.

Within an account, staff email addresses must be unique. The same email address cannot be connected to multiple staff logins.

Confidentiality

All users are responsible for ensuring that login details remain confidential.

Passwords should not be:

  • Written down;
  • Stored in electronic file stored on mobile devices;
  • Stored in clear text file; or
  • Saved using the 'Remember Password' feature of applications or browsers.

Complexity and uniqueness

Passwords should be easy to remember, but difficult for someone else to guess.

It is recommended that the same password is not used across multiple websites or accounts.

Important: Passwords that do not meet requirements will not be accepted by the system.

The requirements for staff passwords are stricter than for student logins.

  • Must be at least 13 characters.
  • Must not contain common words, phrases or passwords.
  • For example, PasswordABC123, FridayAfternoon123!.
  • Must not contain information that can be associated with the user.
  • For example, name or address.
  • Also consider using a combination of character types. For example, alphabetic upper case, alphabetic lower case, numeric, and symbolic.

To prevent unauthorised access, staff will be asked to log in again if their password is changed.
